This Loch has been made available to the SAA for the 2016 fishing season by the Soval Estate. It is a large loch just 5 miles from Stornoway and has numerous small Islands and one very large Island. Although this can sometimes be a dour loch it holds excellent quality trout with 1lb fish common (12 oz average) and fish up to the 3lb mark caught most seasons. The loch also has char up to the pound mark. Take the A859 south from Stornoway and turn left onto the B897 Grimshader road. The loch and parking are about 1.5 miles along this road near the water board plant.
Getting to the Loch from Stornoway
Take the A857 out of the centre of Stornoway, going straight ahead for another 100 yards at the first roundabout onto Macaulay Road.
Take a left turn and carry on for 300 yards.
Take a left turn onto the A858 and carry straight on up the hill and remain on the main road for about 3.5 miles (note that it becomes the A859 after three quarters of a mile).
Turn left onto the B897 Grimshader road and remain on this road for about 1.5 miles until you reach a large building beside the Loch (on your right hand side).
Carry on for about 300 yards and park in the passing place with a short white tipped post just before it.
