Loch Orasaigh

Description

Size/Area:- 120 Acres (49 Hectares)
This Loch has been made available to the SAA by the Soval Estate. It is a large loch just 5 miles from Stornoway and has numerous small Islands and one very large Island. Although this can sometimes be a dour loch it holds excellent quality trout with 1lb fish common (12 oz average) and fish up to the 3lb mark caught most seasons. The loch also has char up to the pound mark.

Take the A859 south from Stornoway and turn left onto the B897 Grimshader road. The north east corner of the loch is about 1.5 miles along this road by the Scottish Water plant.

 

Parking & Access

Although there are a few laybys that can be used for parking, boat users should look out for the one marked with a white post.  The boat will be moored down the slope nearby.
