Work parties are usually required at the beginning and end of each season. The work varies but usually involves:
- Repairing dams and runs in pools;
- Varnishing, installing and removing pool signs;
- Putting boats on and off seasonal moorings;
- Boat maintenance;
- Clearing debris from migration streams;
- Watching duties around the system with the support of bailiffs.
